Building Brand Awareness with CUNA Mutual Group ‘CU Thrive’ Videos

There are probably hundreds of credit union brand awareness efforts in our industry, ranging from the national and the state to the local. Some feature ads and traditional media, while others are more focused on story-telling and leveraging the power of social media.

Our Legacy Series falls into the latter category. We believe that the most effective way to communicate the benefits of credit unions is through story-telling, using examples that will resonate with our target audience of members and prospective members.

I wanted to make you aware of another effort that also falls into that category, a series of high-quality videos from CUNA Mutual Group that feature ordinary Members telling a story of how their credit union helped them and credit union employees sharing approaches they take to better serve their members. The videos reach several target demographics:

  • Leslie Finklea, who needed a mortgage for a home for her family - YouTube link
  • Bryan Dowd, who needed help with financial planning with his first child on the way -  YouTube Link
  • Raffo Wimsett, a credit union employee who takes a mobile branch on the road to attract and serve younger members - YouTube Link
  • Lynette Smith, a credit union CEO focused on helping her members grow and prosper- YouTube Link

CUNA Mutual Group President Bob Trunzo unveiled the videos at the end of last year, and is making the videos available to credit unions for their use on social media, Web sites, and anywhere else they can be effective in promoting the credit union brand.

Kudos to CUNA Mutual Group for taking the lead in developing these videos. As you can see from the production values, they represent a significant commitment of resources towards addressing an issue that affects us all – communicating the benefits of credit unions.
